Heather Stuart
Chief Executive Officer
My early career was in local government, working in community development and regeneration, European and external affairs, and cultural and community services. Since then my roles have spanned both the public and private sectors including the Scottish Government and starting new businesses. The common threads throughout my career are culture, community and change.
As well as being a member of the Institute of Directors, Board positions include the King’s Theatre Kirkcaldy, Vice Chair of Pitlochry Festival Theatre, and former Chair of VOCAL, the national association of culture and leisure managers. In 2017 I was delighted to be recognised at the Scottish Women’s Awards for my contribution to arts and culture.

Born and educated in Dundee, now living in Edinburgh, it’s probably fair to say I was made in Fife.
Since moving from Architecture to Museums, I have spent over 30 years working with amazing people and wonderful collections. The opportunity to discover and share people’s stories through them every day is a privilege.
Joanne Tierney
Operations Manager
I have nearly 30 years’ experience in operations, heath and safety and HR gained in different industries over the years, from retail to property to banking and finance to architectural visualisation – all of which I loved. I am inspired by people every day and how our efforts can make a positive difference to the experience of those around us, whether it be our clients, customers or colleagues. I live in the West of Scotland with my husband, 2 amazing teenagers and slightly batty Parson’s Terrier.
Karen Taylor

I love being busy – involved in events here at the Trust, or in my community but I also love to curl up with a good book, get lost in a movie, or day dream on a beach. All experiences that are good for the soul.

I have 3 real passions in my life; my family, my work, my volunteering. I work to support my family and I volunteer to support my community. All of this brings me joy and great fulfilment.
